About this integration

Reddit videos hosted on v.redd.it are split: the video and audio live on separate URLs that need to be downloaded and merged. Vidownloader handles the merge automatically so you get a single MP4 with sound. Older Reddit videos that lack a separate audio track are downloaded as silent MP4 (which is how they were uploaded).

Cross-posts from external sites (YouTube, Imgur, Streamable, etc.) work too — the URL detection follows whichever real source Reddit links to.

Why are some old Reddit videos silent?

Because they were uploaded silent — Reddit added audio support to v.redd.it later, and older uploads never had an audio track to merge.

Do private subreddits work?
